Billy’s Burgers closure marks end of a waterfront favourite

Waterfront change part of a fresh new chapter

Billy’s Burgers and Bar on Elizabeth Street Pier will close on 3 May as part of the ongoing redevelopment of the waterfront precinct.

Owner Leo Miller has confirmed the popular venue will finish up after several years of trading on the pier, following the earlier closure of neighbouring venue T42 as the site prepares for major upgrades.

The closure is not the end of Leo’s presence on the waterfront though. He will be moving next door into the former T42 space, with plans to open a new restaurant in July. The new venue is expected to offer a broader menu while still keeping Billy’s well-known burgers as part of the offering. Another operator is also expected to take over the current Billy’s site once redevelopment progresses.

Billy’s will continue trading as normal until May, with some possible farewell events planned for its final weekend, giving regular customers a chance to say goodbye to a venue that has become a familiar part of the Hobart waterfront dining scene.
