Plans for the $24 million SHE Cancer Wellness Centre have been approved by Hobart City Council, marking an important step forward in local cancer care and support.
The centre will transform the former Theatre Royal Hotel on Campbell Street—directly opposite the Royal Hobart Hospital—into a welcoming space with consulting rooms, 11 accommodation units and shared communal areas, all while preserving the building’s historic façade.
Supported by $10 million in government funding, matched through generous philanthropy, the SHE Centre will provide much-needed support for people and families travelling for treatment, helping to ease the burden during an incredibly challenging time.
Expected to be completed in 2027, this project will fill a critical gap in cancer wellness care and reflects the strength of our community coming together to support one another.
