The best food and drink stallholders at Tasmania’s Taste of Summer festival have been crowned, with six local businesses winning top honours at the second annual Taste Awards.
Elles Pantry won Best Tasmanian Produce Showcase for its falafel pita, while Ming Court claimed the Cultural Heritage Award for satay chicken skewers made from a traditional family recipe.
Taste of Summer curators Jo Cook and Khayla Massie said the judging standard was extremely high.
“The standard across all categories this year was incredibly high, and while it was a tough decision for the judges they certainly did enjoy putting their tastebuds to the test.”
In the drinks categories, Beautiful Isle’s Fiano Blanc won Best Local Drink, Tas Juice Press took out Best Low or Non-Alcoholic Drink, and Punch and Ladle’s Strawberry Sour secured Best Tasmanian Spirit.
Madame Clarke won Best Sweet Treat for its Cherry Ripe tart.
“The Taste Awards are about recognising the creativity, passion and skill of the people behind the food and drink that make this festival so special,” they said.
Festival-goers can still vote in the People’s Choice Award via QR codes at each stall until the event ends.
