A record-breaking Taste of Summer festival has concluded on Hobart’s waterfront, attracting 98,125 visitors over its eight-day run.
Attendance was roughly 10,000 higher than last year, with about one in three attendees travelling from interstate or overseas.
Tourism Minister Jane Howlett said the event highlighted Tasmanian food and drink, featuring more than 75 producers and vendors.
She said the festival brought together tourists and locals alike, with people from across the state gathering to reconnect with family and friends while enjoying local produce.
Event director Jarrod Nation described this year’s festival as the largest to date, noting that stallholders saw revenue increase by more than 10 per cent, and confirmed preparations were already underway for next year’s event.
