Hobart already has major drawcards like Museum of Old and New Art, and the proposed Macquarie Point stadium is set to add another major reason for people to visit Tasmania.
Now the $150 million Cadbury Chocolate Experience in Claremont has been approved, a modern visitor attraction built around one of Tasmania’s most recognised brands and a site generations of Tasmanians have grown up with.
This is the kind of project that helps build a stronger, year-round visitor economy. It is not just about tourism, it is about creating more reasons for people to stay longer, explore more of Greater Hobart, and spend money across local cafes, restaurants, accommodation and small businesses.
Importantly, it also shows confidence in Hobart’s future. Major attractions create flow-on benefits well beyond their own site, helping strengthen jobs, investment and economic activity across the region.
Opening is expected around 2028.
